Step 1. Measurement and order
When laying a rolled lawn on your site, it is necessary to clearly understand how much is needed. This amount can be calculated using the formula:
X(m2) x 1.25 + 1.25 x Y/100 = number of rolls
Where: X is the area of the lawn plot;
Y — %, depending on the area of the plot (10% — when calculating the number of rolls of finished lawn for laying on plots of complex configuration or not exceeding 5 acres; 5% — for plots of more than 5 acres).
It is necessary to plan and carry out transportation only after the preparatory work is completed. Fast laying on the day of delivery is the most important condition for the survival of the lawn.
Step 2. Soil preparation
Soil preparation is a very important step that needs to be approached with extreme care. First of all, you need to remove all weeds, rocks, debris. Fill all the recesses with earth. Dig up the ground with a shovel or a motorcycle cultivator to a depth of 10-15 cm. Depending on the condition of the soil, apply mineral fertilizers, lime, peat, compost. Carefully level the surface with a rake. The depth of the fertile layer for the lawn should be 8-10 cm. Lightly seal the surface with a lawn roller (you can use improvised means — for example, a barrel of water), This will allow you to identify the depressions in the area where you need to add land. The ground level should be 2-3 cm below the level of the sidewalk or path. After laying the finished lawn, the paths and the lawn will be level.
Step 3. Laying the finished lawn
Start laying the lawn immediately after delivery. Roll out the rolls along the sidewalk in a straight line. Then continue in the form of brickwork. Make sure that the edges of the rolls fit snugly, without overlapping and leaving no gaps. If the lawn is laid on a slope, then place it horizontally. Trim the uneven edges with a sharp knife or shovel. After laying the rolled lawn, roll the surface with a garden roller to ensure that the lawn is in contact with the soil and air is removed. If the finished lawn is too dry, then moisten it before rolling.
Step 4. Watering
High—quality watering is the key to success and survival of the lawn. Watering can be started immediately after laying the first rolls of the finished lawn. Water should penetrate through the laid lawn. Check the result of watering by lifting the corner with one of the rolls in several different places throughout the site. Do not be afraid of excess moisture. Make sure that the watering is uniform throughout the site.
If you did not have time to lay the entire lawn in one day, unfold the rolls on the ground at night, moistening the lawn with water. It is impossible to store the lawn in a rolled-up form.
